Lovely restaurant run by a sweet elderly couple, featuring Japanese home comfort foods. The omurice was really very good! The shop is kept very clean and tidy. Relatively small number of seats, and nice interior. I really like the chef's hat, it's very endearing. It has a comfortable and relaxed ambience. Prices are reasonable, and you can tell it's an honest business. It's hard to find integrity and honesty these days. When I went, I saw only foreign tourists there, please be kind and respectful to grandma and grandpa. This place has my highest compliments. What a joy to dine there.
The most amazing Japanese comfort food in a less touristy area of Kyoto. We were the first customers and an elderly husband and wife couple cooked and served us. Be patient if the place is packed as they do everything on their own.
Omurice is amazing and a definite must order! Enjoy!
A true way of experiencing Japanese’s food. A real family (a chief and his lovely wife) welcoming tourists and guests into their house in order to serve them with food. The atmosphere was simple/basic yet it was elegant and amazing.
You will feel like a son being served with food by your own family. The food itself was tasty and the omelette rice was one of the best I ever tried. The prices were pretty good (personally I consider them low) noting that in general there isn’t an expensive items on the menu so you can try whatever you want. They even serve you with free of charge salad. Highly recommend.
By the way, there is no reservation and tourists don’t know about this place yet so go, sit, eat and enjoy before it gets well known and you will then have to wait in line!
tldr; Fluffy egg. Very nice. 我喜欢 (I like it).
Light and fragrant demi-glace sauce. Very nice too, but wish there was more sauce. It is served with plain white rice instead of fried rice, which was why I preferred there to be more sauce.
Topped with a few beef cubes. Slightly on the drier side. Sad ):
Overall not too bad, would come back here again! Also, don't need to come at 1030am to queue when they open at 1130am. The queue only started to form after 1130am, so can just arrive by 1115am.
No entertaining chef unlike Kichi Kichi omurice, but the chef here was still quite cute!
We didn't expect that it would taste so good. The omurice is really amazing. The egg was so smooth, even the beef is so tender. The taste was very good. It was a perfect combination with the sauce.
We've also had the second menu with croquette. This one is also good. I would suggest this if you want to taste other variant. But def must try their omurice!
Everything was so good! The demiglaze and the curry, the perfectly done omu, and the beef was so soft and tender.
My only regret is mixing in all the butter in the demiglaze, it became too buttery for me. And there isn't a lot of beef with the omu rice.
The owners are so lovely and sweet. They have a little guestbook for people to write in too. Love this gem of a place, would recommend!
Go early though, as they were sold out early. We got the last seat around 1.30pm before other people were turned away.
👅 Omurice w/demi glaze + beef
WOWOWOWOW let me tell you something about these breathtaking smooth runny eggs that choke slammed our palette and breathed life into our souls 🤪 Succulent beef pieces, perfectly cooked rice and OF COURSE those beautiful creamy eggs that came with a magical demi glaze sauce 🪄
The eggs melted in your mouth and the sauce was smooth, dark and savoury with a good amount of sweetness which balanced the dish and kept you wanting more and more!! 🤤 The salad was a great addition as it cleansed the palette and made the dish even MORE enjoyable.
Tucked away in a little street right next to a beautiful garden this place was run by a lovely elderly couple whose smiles warmed our hearts as much as much as their food did. 💕With no insane booking and only 1300YEN??? Definitely a steal!! 🍔
